It is 10 years since I started running and setting personal goals each year and those of you that know me will be aware that I am up for a challenge. Well, in April next year, I have set myself the goal of completing the Marathon Des Sables. As a Royal Marine veteran, I've chosen to take on this challenge, one of the world's toughest endurance events, in support of Walking With The Wounded.
Over six days, I'll run approximately 250 km across the Sahara Desert, carrying everything I need on my back while facing extreme heat, long distances, and unforgiving terrain. It will be one of the greatest physical and mental running challenges I've ever undertaken.
I'm proud to be raising funds for Walking With The Wounded, a charity that provides life-changing support to veterans who are struggling after leaving the Armed Forces. Through employment programmes, mental health support, and personalised care, they help former service personnel regain their independence, rebuild their confidence, and move forward with purpose.
As someone who has served, this cause is deeply personal. I know that while many veterans transition successfully into civilian life, others face significant challenges. Walking With The Wounded ensures that those who need support are never left to face those challenges alone.
Every donation, no matter the size, will help this incredible charity continue its vital work. Your support will also provide me with extra motivation when the race gets tough.
