Please take a moment to read why I’m raising money for Walking With The Wounded.

My family has served in the British Army for generations including my great uncle, who was killed in action fighting in the desert with the 8th Army during WWII, then to me deploying on two Operational Tours of Duty before I turned 20, and on to my son Zak, who deployed to Afghanistan on Op Herrick 18.

I’m taking on this ultra (mad) race to raise money for those who’ve served, our military, veterans, and their families, through the vital work of charities like Walking With The Wounded.

Since leaving the Army, I’ve been supported by several military charities, and by Op Courage for my mental health. That support has been literally lifesaving for me, and for many others who have served in the Armed Forces. Not forgetting the families who support us.

This challenge holds a deeply personal significance for me. In July 2023, I was struck and dragged under a bus while cycling with the rear wheel coming to a stop just inches from my head. Cycling had always been my escape, a crucial part of my mental well-being. Before the accident, I was riding 300 miles a week, but now I am unable to cycle at all, which has had a severe negative impact on my mental health. Once again Op Courage, and Walking with the Wounded stepped in to give me their support.

I refuse to let a reckless driver define me or my future, so I’m taking on this challenge not just for serving personnel, veterans, and their families, but also for myself.
