Why I’m Taking Part
Help Me Carry the Weight So Others Don't Have To
In 2026, I completed the iconic Marathon des Sables a 270km ultramarathon across the Sahara Desert. The event marked its 40th edition, and as I turned 40 myself, it felt like the perfect challenge. Along the way, I raised funds for Walking With The Wounded, supporting veterans and their families.
At the finish line, I thought my journey was complete.
The reality is that there are still too many people struggling, too many veterans facing battles long after their military service has ended, and too many individuals carrying the invisible weight of mental health challenges every single day.
That's why I have committed to returning to the Marathon des Sables in 2027.
This time, however, I will be making the challenge significantly harder.
I aim to complete the entire event wearing military boots, combat clothing, and a 10kg weighted plate carrier. The weight will serve as a powerful symbol of the burden that many people living with mental health challenges carry every day. I also hope to set a record for completing the Marathon des Sables under these conditions while raising vital funds and awareness for Walking With The Wounded.
Mental health is one of the most important issues facing the veteran community today. Through this challenge, I want to start conversations, raise awareness, and generate meaningful funds to support those who need help the most.
